The School Technical Arts has five academies, Academy of Computer Programming, Academy of Digital Graphics & Publication, Academy of Internet Development, Academy of Stagecraft, and The Academy of T.V. & The Art of Film. These academies help prepare students for careers using technical training.

The Academy of Graphics and Publication consists of a series of courses which allows students to learn the art of visual communication. Students are provided with internship opportunities as part of their capstone Regional Occupation Program (ROP) Graphic Design class which offers them opportunities to create real world art for real world clients? Students who have completed required courses may receive Academy Certification through SSHS and Certification through the County of Ventura ROP in Graphic Design.

Students in this academy learn a combination of computer code and art to develop an understanding of website layout and design. Students of any level may enroll in the capstone class, ROP Web Design, where students learn about the Web Design industry and may earn a County Certificate of Proficiency. In this class, students gain access to industry-standard tools, and utilize personal web space for school and class use as they work on real world projects. Students also develop business and employability skills as well as study ethics for technology and the work place. *Students who meet the course of study requirements and have completed the required senior project may apply for SSHS Academy Certification in addition to their high school diploma.

Students in this academy use high-level math skills to write computer code in a project-oriented environment to problem solve. Students gain knowledge of computer logic, computer math algorithms and object oriented programming concepts at all levels. The advanced students complete Advanced Placement (AP) courses in Computer Science, effectively college level curricula, where they may earn college units upon passing the national exam. *Students who meet the course of study requirements and have completed the required senior project may apply for SSHS Academy Certification in addition to their high school diploma.
