Welcome to the 2007-08 school year! Everyone is off to an enthusiastic start as we celebrate our Academic Performance Index (API) score of 821. The students and staff of Santa Susana High School are extremely proud of our continued academic improvement!

SSHS remains committed to providing students with a challenging, rigorous and relevant curriculum. We have continually striven to implement reform strategies and structures to educate students in a learning environment customized to the demands and realities of the 21st century. Because of our unique structure and specialized programs, and our commitment to academic achievement, Santa Susana High School continues to be recognized as an exemplary school within the state of California.

As a specialized Secondary Program demonstration site for the second year in a row, SSHS will once again host two days (in October and March) where educators from across the state will visit to learn about SSHS Schools and Academies. In addition, we will host a Smaller Learning Communities County Demonstration Day in October as well. As is past practice, both students and staff will be involved in presentations and tours.

Santa Susana High School is in its second year as part of the Successful Practices Network operated by the International Center for Educational Leadership and the Council of Chief State School Officers in representing the state of California. Throughout the year we will continue to share information with other schools in the Network to learn about other exemplary programs and strategies that promote student achievement.

As you can imagine, this will be another very busy year and we have much for which to prepare. I am extremely proud of the students and staff at Santa Susana for their accomplishments. I would also like to thank our Santa Susana High School parents, community members and business partners for their contribution to our success. At Santa Susana, we all work together! Here’s to a very successful and rewarding year!
